It is with tremendous sorrow and shattered hearts that we announce the passing of Bernadette Cordova- Gonzales of Gallina, New Mexico due to complications of a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Manuelita Cordova, brothers; Mardoqueo, Gilbert, Herman, and Samuel Cordova Jr., half-brother Joe Cordova, and Rudy Maestas, father of her daughter. Bernadette was also preceded in death by several cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters in laws, niece and nephews. She is also preceded by her in-laws. Bernadette is survived by her husband, of 33 years, Benicio Gonzales and her daughter, her best friend and partner Kathleen Martinez and husband Javier R. Martinez. Bernadette is also survived by brothers Daniel Cordova and Bobby Cordova and she is also survived by her sisters; Nancy Livingston and husband Johnny, Emma Cordova and life partner Adolfo Serna, Gloria Hockenhull and husband Gene. Bernadette is also survived by half siblings; Alfonso Cordova, Onofre Sanchez, Victoria Lovato and husband Reynaldo Lovato, Josie Martinez, and Mary Madrid. Bernadette is also survived by her Aunt Dolores Lujan, Uncle Eloy Martinez and wife Melita. brother and sister-in-Laws, JD Gonzales, Martha Serrano, Eudalia and Doris Martinez, Beatrice Salazar, and Joann Valdez and families, many cousins, nieces and nephew. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVaras Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a burial to follow at Capulin Cemetery. Pallbearers to carry Bernadette to her final resting place will be Benny Lujan, Bobby Cordova, Gene Chacon, James Martinez, LeRoy and Michael Gonzales, Alan Martinez, and Jose Sandoval. The family asks that everyone follow COVID safe practices and capacity requirements will be in effect for the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial. Masks will be required at services. Due to the current pandemic restrictions regretfully will not be able to hold a meal in Bernadette’s honor. The family of Bernadette Cordova wishes to thank EVERYONE for their thoughts, prayers, messages and visits. The family is also extremely grateful for your monetary donations, meals, cards, food and drink donations.
