Our beloved father and grandfather, Benigno (Ben) Roybal, passed away on Easter morning, April 17th, at A Love for Life assisted living in Albuquerque. Ben was born to Procopio and Tonita Roybal on August 21st, 1929 in their home in Nambe. After graduation from Pojoaque High School in 1947, he served in the US Navy from 1947-1951. He then attended the University of New Mexico earning a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Ben married Eva (Lopez) Purser in 1958 and had three children; Lyle (Mary) Roybal, Alric (Cordy) Roybal, and Roberta (Javon) Evanoff.  He worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) during this time. Ben and Eva were divorced in 1984. Ben married Clorinda (Trujillo) Martinez in 1985 and served as stepfather to her three children Jeanette Padilla, Jackie (Jack) Hyatt, and Christopher Martinez.  Ben retired from LANL in 1990 and loved to fish and camp at Heron Lake, was a senior Olympic bowler, and regularly vacationed in Mazatlán.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Procopio and Tonita Roybal, and six siblings; Pablo Roybal, Estanislao (Stan) Roybal, Isaudro (I.M.) Roybal, Mary Roybal, Ruth Baker and the infant twin of Remijio (Remmy) Roybal. He is survived by his three children, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; his wife Clorinda and her three children, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Ben has three living siblings, Lydia Trujillo, Remmy Roybal, and Procopio Jr. (Jake) Roybal.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, NM starting at 9 am on Friday May 20th .A Rosary will precede the Mass at 8:40. Parish restrictions require everyone to wear masks at all times while in the church confines.
