Barbara Pacheco

Barbara Florence Pacheco, from Española, NM, joined her Lord and Savior, on March 23, 2022. Barbara was born in Embudo, NM to Juvencito and Melita Duran (both deceased). She was preceded in death by her Brother, Julian Duran & Nephew, Ricky Brandstetter.

Barbara graduated from Española High School and attended El Rito Business School. Barbara spent her entire working career helping others until the day she died. Barbie always said she would work until the day she died, and true to her word, on her way to her place of employment, which she loved dearly, she suffered a medical emergency and passed away. Her first job was at Embudo Hospital. She was currently working for Presbyterian Home Health and Hospice in Santa Fe. Prior to that, she worked for La Clinica de Familia, in Las Cruces, NM, as well as for Doña Ana County. Her co-workers loved her and the patients she helped were always so thankful. Barbara was very generous and always made life brighter for those she met. Everywhere she went another 2 or 3 good friends were added to her life. Barbie, as we called her, was an excellent cook, baker and artist. She made beautiful quilts for family and friends. She was a great oil and watercolor landscape painter. Above all this, she was a giver and helper and a Woman of deep faith. She enjoyed going to the Opera, visiting galleries and spending time with family and friends. Barbara will be greatly missed and the shining light is a little dimmer. We are, however, thankful for having her in our lives.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Alma Pacheco, (Las Cruces,) Exhusband/friend, Johnny Pacheco, (Chamisal). Sister, Frances Duran (Española), Brother, Matthew Duran (Jeanette) Española. Brother, Oliver Duran (Drucilla) Dixon, Sister-in-law Harriet Brandstetter (Las Cruces). Gabriel Duran (nephew) Pam and Steve Jeffries (niece & nephew) and Scott Brandstetter (nephew) and many other close, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Burial will be on June 11, 2022 @ 11 am at Father Cooper’s Cemetery in Embubo, NM.
