Antonio J. (Tone) Barela from Abiquiu, was born July 6, 1949 and earned his wings on March 24, 2021. Throughout his life he enjoyed carpentry, wood working, fishing, and boating. When he was of able body, he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Antonio was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and Godfather. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie; mother, Benigna; brother, Ricky; paternal and maternal grandparents; father-in-law, Procopio; mother-in-law, Angelina; sister-in-law, Magdalena, and two nephews, David and Antonio.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dulcinia; children, Lee Ann, Kathleen and Tomas and wife Vanessa; grandson whom he raised as a son, Marcus; granddaughter, Havana; two step-granddaughters, Destiny and Alanna; two sisters, Suzy (Ferbie), and Charlotte (John); sisters-in-law, Mabel (Howard), Lynn (Arnold); brother-in-law, Isidro; nieces and nephews, Pamela (Roger), Monica, Angelica, Angie, Mikeala, Unica, Angel, Ariana, Katlyn, Kayla, Desiree, Procopio (Barbara), Justin (Antonette), Bob (Lisa), Patrick, Christian, Nicolas, Matthew, Jaime, AJ, Jasiah, Jason and Aiden.
A visitation will begin on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu. Mass of Christian burial will be held on on Wednesday, April 7, 20201 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Abiquiu Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are, Ferbie Coriz, Isidor Hernandez, Howard Carrol, Ruben Maestas, John Garcia, and Arnold Jacquez. The family of Antonio J.
