Amalia Roybal

AMALIA “MOLLY” ROYBAL, age 97, of El Rancho, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 21, 2021. She was born August 2, 1923 in Gallina. She was the matriarch of the family and a woman of strong faith.  She will be missed but we know she is resting in God’s loving arms and reunited with all her loved ones.  She enjoyed singing and playing Christian music with her family and also played the guitar.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jose Salomon Roybal; parents, Rev. Tomas and Lugardita Martinez; siblings, Emma Chavez, Emilio Martinez and Abedulia Padilla and granddaughter, Kimberly Aragon-Nunez.

She is survived by her sister, Isabel (Lita) Sanchez; children, Rosie Martinez, Joe (Josue) S. Roybal (Maureen), Joyce Roybal-Aragon, Grace Roybal, George Roybal (Irene), Gilbert Roybal, Jerry Roybal (Jimmy), Lydia Upchurch (Steve), Danny Roybal (Elaine), Ben Roybal (Drusilla) and Debbie Swanson (Arnie).

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, cousins, and other relatives.

Public visitation will begin on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. at the Christian Life Fellowship, 121 Siringo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505.  A private burial will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be observed.

Pallbearers: Lucas Aragon, Gary Roybal, Dennis Roybal, B.J. Roybal, Daniel Roybal and Kevin Roybal. Honorary pallbearer Cpl. Ezekiel Salomon Upchurch (U.S. Marine Corp) who is currently serving our country. The family of Amalia “Molly” Roybal has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.

My deepest condolences to the Roybal family. Molly was my babysitter and one of my fondest childhood memories was she would let me make mud pies in her flower bed. It was the best! She was a loving caretaker and I will always remember her. Tamara Roybal of El Rancho

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother.  I remember visiting with her many years ago.  My heart goes out to you all.  May the dear Lord give you all the comfort, love and support you all need during this difficult time.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
