AGUSTIN GARCIA, 88, a resident of Española, originally from Canjilon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his wife Julia Maria Garcia, daughter Marilyn (Marlene) Duran, granddaughter Kimberly Cordova, parents Benjamin and Placida Garcia and sister Sara Leyba.

Agustin was born and raised in Canjilon. Agustin served in Army of the US from 1953 to 1955 and was a very proud veteran. He loved being at home in Canjilon where he was an active rancher.  He was sharp in recognizing his cattle (50+) by name and number tag.  Agustin retired from the Protection Technology Los Alamos where served years as a Lieutenant in Communications. After retirement he moved to Canjilon and was a full time rancher.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his children, Augusta Garcia of Murray, Utah, Augustine Garcia (Denise) of Espanola, Teodoro Garcia (Pamela) of Espanola, Charlene Gonzales of Espanola, Pedro Garcia (Esther) of Montrose, CO,  Richard Garcia (Celina) of Ojo Caliente, Roberta Ortega (Onesimo) from El Duende, Beverly Garcia of Espanola and Jose Luz Garcia (John) of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren, Maria Lopez, Rosendo Garcia, Crystal Duran, Dennis Gonzales (Jennifer), Stacey Gonzales, Aaron Rose, Isaac Garcia (Chassity), Leian Romero (Andrew), Ryan Rose,  Elias Garcia, Roland Martinez, Erika Ortega, Megan Baca (Josh), Julianna Trujillo, Kayla Dominguez (Jordan), Jacob Garcia (Maddie), Tony Cordova, Melanie Garcia, Tomas Ortega  and Lucas Garcia; 18 great-grandchildren, Krisalynn, Aaliyah Martinez and Aviana Baca, Madysen and Paetyn Romero, Eli and Zarah Dominguez, Natalie and Jeremiah Gonzales, Eleanor and Benjamin Garcia, Angel and Alex Lopez, Augustine Garcia, Isabella Kenyon, Michael Clegg, Rossi and Mikki Garcia; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Garcia, Skye Lopez,  and two to be born, Theodore Garcia and baby Baca; sisters, Agripina Salazar of Tierra Amarilla and Grace Baker (James) of Espanola; sisters-in-law, Flora Garcia, Sally Montano, Rebecca Martinez all of Canjilon and Marcella Herrera of Espanola.

The family of Agustin Garcia would like to thank the following: Crystal Duran, Stacey Gonzales, Martha Sanchez, Ambercare Hospice Staff, Hospice Nurse Annamae Dixon, Dr. Levi Maes, Giving Home Health Care Caregivers and staff for the care of Agustine Garcia.

Public visitation will begin on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at the San Juan Parish in Ohkay Owingeh, with a rosary to follow at 1:00 p.m, and a Mass to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Dennis Gonzales, Isaac Garcia, Jacob Garcia, Tomas Ortega, Ryan Rose, Lucas Garcia and Elias Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
