ADELIA MARTINEZ

Adelia “Della” Martinez – Age 71, a longtime resident of Espanola passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 14, 2020 surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness.

Della was born on October 16, 1948 in Chama, NM.  She married Jose Clyde Martinez on May 16, 1970 and had a loving marriage of 50 years.  Together they had 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

She worked for Social Services for 10 years then started a new career for the Los Alamos National Laboratory where she retired after 29 years as a Senior Contract Specialist.

Della Loved her family greatly and took great pride and joy in the time she spent with them. She enjoyed traveling to different countries, enjoyed the casino and enjoyed working on her garden. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Tonita Martinez; Step-Father, Samuel Martinez; Brothers, Eddie and Mike Martinez; Sister, LouEllen Vigil; In-laws, Alicia and Roberto Martinez; Brothers-in-law, Tommy and Anthony Martinez; Niece, Debbie Gallegos; Nephews, Kenny Martinez, Michael Martinez II, Francisco Martinez and Francisco Vigil.

Della is survived by her husband, Jose Clyde Martinez; children, Rhonda Martinez (boyfriend, Leon Martinez) and Joseph Martinez; Grandchildren Amanda Martinez (Fiancé, Jesse Bailon); Jordan Vigil (Girlfriend, Anna Jaramillo); Siblings, Victor Martinez of Espanola, Samuel Martinez (Jessica) of Rio Rancho, Anthony Martinez of Chimayo; Sister-in-law, Berlina Ramirez of Albuquerque; Brothers-in-law, Robert Martinez of Albuquerque, Michael Martinez (Sandra) of Cordova, NM; Uncle, Dan Romero of Espanola. Along with numerous other nephews, nieces and loved ones.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Amber care and all their staff, for all their help and support they have provided the family.  A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
