Xavier Marquez

d. March 21, 2022

Xavier Martin Marquez, 43, born on March 2, 1979, unexpectedly passed away on March 21, 2022, in Espanola, NM. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose and Bernie Marquez, Uncle Hector Martinez, Uncle Donald Marquez, Uncle Urban Martinez, Cousin Cameron Martinez, and Godfather Tony Sanchez.

Xavier was born and raised in Alcalde, NM, to a very tight knit family, filled with loving parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. He grew up on the family ranch, Z-4, spending his days riding dirt bikes and tractors, and running and playing with his cousins. He loved having adventures on the ranch, and helping with the family business. As he grew up, he loved the Denver Broncos, playing football, and was proud to earn the title of homecoming King and Queen with his future wife and mother of his first son.

In 2001, he joined the United States Marine Corp, and proudly served his country during his tour in Iraq as a combat soldier. He served honorably in the Marines, reaching the rank of Sargent. His family was so proud, and immensely honored, to watch him serve our country.

In 2004, he became a father for the first time, and later went on to have two more sons. They were his biggest accomplishments, and his absolute pride and joy. He was a loving father to his boys, and they were his entire world. He was also an amazing uncle to his niece and nephews, always prioritizing spending time with them and always bringing surprises.

Xavier was incredibly generous, and showered his friends and family with love. He had the most captivating smile, and always looked out for his friends and family. Their happiness mattered most to him above all else.

Xavier is survived by his Father Jose E. Marquez Jr. and wife Kate Martinez, Mother Thedra Martinez and fiancé Matthew Herrera, Sister Claudia and husband Jeremy Benavidez, Sons Xavier, Dominic, and Elijah Marquez, Grandparents Clyde and Rosalind Martinez, Uncle Wilbur Martinez, Uncle Gerald and wife Suzie Marquez, Aunts Connie, Norma, and Sharon Marquez, Aunt Christie Trujillo, Aunt Rose and husband Tom Manning, Aunt Valerie Martinez, Niece Ella Benavidez, Nephews Logan and Landon Benavidez, Godmother Margaret Sanchez, Mothers of his sons Amanda Marquez and Sandra Reynolds, and many cousins.

The Rosary will be held at 12 noon, followed immediately by the funeral service. A reception will follow at the church parish hall. The family kindly requests masks be worn during the Church services. The burial will be held on April 27th, 2022, at 9:45 am, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe New Mexico.
