Wilbert William Salazar

July 14, 1969 — January 25, 2023

Wilbert William Salazar, 53, born July 14, 1969 of Santa Clara Pueblo and El Llano, NM was joined with his loved ones in paradise on January 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Salazar, uncle and Godfather Carlos Serrano, mother-in-law Marie Lyon and brother-in-law David Lyon.

Affectionately known to many as “Willa” led a life full of love, friendship and family. Wil had one of the most infectious personalities around. He always greeted you with a smile, a chuckle, a nickname or a firm hug. Wil never hesitated to lend a hand and help in any way he could, especially when it came to getting you into a new vehicle. He would always be seen supporting his kids whether it was at the baseball field, running events or Camino de Paz events.  He served his community from coaching kids, volunteering at community events and most notably as a salesman in Northern New Mexico for many years. He was an avid softball player, basketball player, golfer and supporter of all EVHS Sundevil teams. Through all these activities he met, befriended and gained lifelong friendships that have endured from his childhood and beyond. If you ever got a “Whaaaazzzzup” or “Heavvvy” from Wil, you are among the blessed.

Wil is survived by his loving wife Stephanie Salazar. Parents Wilbert and Carmen Salazar. His children Michael Rodriguez (Mallory), Kristyn, Zachery and Marcus Salazar. His grandsons Colton and Weston Rodriguez. Sister Debra Gonzales (Leo), brother Cippie Salazar, sister-in-law Valarie Lyon-Vigil (Loren) and brother-in-law Jeffrey Lyon (Renee). Nieces and nephews: Azaziah Salazar, Raelyn and Nicole Gonzales, Raechele Lyon (Nic) and their children Emyli, Isabelle, Jacob, Jack, Derek and Hannah. Taylor Vigil (Cameron), Skylar Roybal (Ben), Jaelynn Lyon (CJ) and their daughters Renesa and Aria. JP Lyon, Naya Aquino and Tamryn Lyon. Goddaughter/niece Michayla Salazar, goddaughter Nevaeh Aguilar and godson Adrian Trujillo. And many other relatives and friends.
