Viviane E. Medina

March 16, 1951 — March 17, 2023

Viviane E. Medina, 72, of Chimayo, NM, passed away peacefully after a long battle with her illness and no longer in pain on March 17, 2023. She was born to Filiberto and Yvette Martinez on March 16, 1951. She graduated from Espanola Valley High in 1969. She went on to study Business at Northern New Mexico Community College and graduated with an Associates in Business.

Viviane worked as a Financial Aid Officer at NNMC for 25 years. She retired in 2016 after 25 years of working at a job she greatly loved. She enjoyed helping the students in the financial aid office. She believed every student needed a chance to succeed.

She loved to be in the kitchen baking & cooking for her family, entertaining for her friends. She was best known for her chocolate-caramel brownies. She loved visiting & collecting lighthouses, she said they brought her peace and serenity. She loved needlepoint, watching birds, having a tall glass of iced tea and watching hummingbirds in the summer, antiquing with her granddaughters, watching judge shows, especially Judge Judy, game shows, Survivor and Golden Girls. She loved making the holiday’s extra special for her granddaughters. She loved her cat Majesty, Mauricette’s dog Dipper “My lil guy” and cat Bowzer. She loved her family with all her heart and was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She will forever be greatly missed by those that really truly loved her.

Viviane raised 2 children: Andrea Campos and Kevin Medina. She also was a huge part of her precious granddaughter's lives. She loved traveling with her little family making memories to last them a lifetime. She was extremely proud of her French heritage and showed that through her cooking of French recipes. 

Viviane is survived by Andrea (daughter0 and Tomas Campos III (son-in-law), Her precious granddaughters Mauricétte, Amélie, Joliëtoile and Skyÿ Medina. Cathrine Vigil (sister) and Manuel Vigil (brother-in-law), several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brother Phillip, parents Filiberto and Yvette Martinez and her precious son Kevin.

Our lives will be forever changed, Mom, we know you're in a better place. We want you to know how much we respected and loved you. We love you every day, and now we will miss you every day. Thank you for being such a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend.

A rosary will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home on March 30, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish in Chimayo on March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private and at a later date.
