Viola Sisneros-Rael

Viola Sisneros-Rael, age 89, of Ojo Caliente, NM, passed away on December 9, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her husband Pancracio Rael, parents Anastacio & Roberta Sisneros, sister Genevieve Pignoni, brother Anastacio Sisneros Jr., sister Rosina Baca, sister-in-law Eufelia Sisneros and Margaret Sisnersos.

She was a beloved teacher in Petaca, Ojo Caliente and El Rito for nearly 40 years.  She was a faithful Catholic devoted to her Rosary – morning, noon and night which she used to pray for all her family and friends.  She was a member of the Holy Family Society in Ojo Caliente and a loyal viewer of EWTN Catholic Television.  She was a recent resident of Legacy of Santa Fe Assisted Living where she was lovingly cared for by the compassionate staff. 

She is survived by her brother Jose Cecilio Sisneros of Ojo Caliente, brother-in-laws Augustine Pignoni of South San Francisco, CA and Gabriel Baca of Espanola, NM, niece Cathy Sisneros (Luis Gurule) of Santa Fe, NM, Roberta Madrid (Pete) of El Guache, NM, Marcia Baca of Albuquerque, NM, Jennifer Sisneros of Espanola, NM and Anna Maria Martinez (Luis) of Daly City, CA, nephews Michael Sisneros (Veronica) of Espanola, NM, John Salazar (Paula) of Santa Fe, NM, Gabriel Baca (Lori) of Chamita, NM, and Adan Baca of Espanola, NM.

Pallbearer’s are Michael Sisneros, Nathaniel Sisneros, Jacob Madrid, Amabilis Baca, Adan Baca and Adan Baca Jr..  Honorary Pallbearer’s are Angelica Martinez, Natasha Baca, Amberly Sisneros, Nicole Sisneros, Mariah Sisneros and Gabriella Baca.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home.  A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente, NM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
