VIOLA MARTINEZ, 68, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. Viola was preceded in death by her father, Santiago Lopez; brothers, Arturo Lopez, Tony Salazar, sisters, Ruby Lopez, and Geneveive Mascarenas. She is survived by her spouse, Ray C. Martinez; children, Eppie Martinez (Lisa), Bernadette Martinez (Mavi), and John John Martinez (Kathleen); raised as a daughter, Esperanza Martinez ,Darin Jaramillo whom she considered as her son; grandchildren, Ashley Cook, Eppie Martinez Jr., Kendall Jaramillo, Dylon Martinez, Makrinna Garcia Martinez, Luke Martinez, great-grandchildren, Kyla Cook, Diego Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, and Nevaeh Violet Jaramillo; mother, Aurora Salazar; brothers, Julian Lopez (Dawnette), Jimmy Lopez, Thomas Lopez, Roy Garcia (Lucinda), Andy Salazar, sisters, Darlene Johnson (Rick), Yvonne Telles (Danny); close friend who was like a sister, Lydia Salazar and Maggie Coriz and many nieces and nephews. Public visitation will begin on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Espanola, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. also at El Buen Pastor Church, with a burial to follow at Temple Bautista Cemetery in Chimayo. Serving the family as pallbearers, Michael Marquez, Eppie Martinez, Jr., Kyle Cook, Dylon Martinez, Ernie Lopez, Henry Gonzales, Justin Salazar-Torrez and Daniel Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be, Luke Martinez, Ashley Cook, Ricardo Martinez, Diego Martinez, Kyla Cook, Kendall Jaramillo, Alma Garcia, Hugo Lopez, Bernadette Salazar, Beverly Gomez, Darin Jaramillo, and Judy Trujillo.
