Victor Salazar

February 27, 1956 — March 18, 2021

Victor Salazar of Nambe was called home by our beloved Lord on March 18th, 2021. Victor was born February 27, 1956 to Gilbert and Lucy Salazar. Victor was loved by so many and left a legacy of a soul that was kind and giving to so many. He was a true man of his word and if every anyone needed anything he was there to lend a hand and share his many talents. Victor retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory with over 35 years of service where he met, and made many friends. Victor enjoyed the simple things in life like camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and his favorite was cooking on his Apple Blossom Express smoker, which he took special pride in because he built it himself. Victor made new friends every day because he would talk to strangers and always connected with them on a personal level. He never complained about anything and worry was not in his vocabulary, unless of course he would tell you “Don't you worry”. He loved his family ranch in La Coyota, and spent many a day up there. He used to say it was up there that he felt most connected to God and the spirits. He will be missed by so many wonderful friends and family.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Lucy Salazar, his siblings, Margaret Salazar, Leroy Salazar, and Antoinette Salazar. His grandparents Enrique and Anita Salazar, and Genaro and Antonia Terrazas.

He is survived by his beloved, Dianna Olguin, sisters Dolly Rodriguez (Roy), Marcella Mathieson, Elizabeth Archuleta, Carol Salazar, and his brother and best friend Eric Salazar. Also surviving him are the pride and joy of his life, his nieces and nephews, Lisa Marie Rodriguez, Jonathon Salazar, Kathleen Mathieson, Kristen Mathieson, Marissa Mathieson, Dallas Archuleta, Bryan Carrillo, Austin Archuleta, Victoria Salazar, Christopher Salazar, and Sophia Carrillo. One great nephew Everett James who he loved and mentored. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Alice and Joe Lopez, Theresa Daly, Clarabelle Ortiz, and Tessie and Tony Valdez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11AM at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque.  Burial will follow at the Nambe Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers: Jonathon Salazar, Bryan Carrillo, Mark Rivera, Randy Vigil, Jr. Vigil, and Gabe Gallegos.
