Vicentita (Tita) A. Esquibel, 88 a resident of Alcalde, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 21, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucas and Adela Trujillo; father and mother-in-law, Lucardio and Encarnacion Esquibel; husband Eloy Esquibel; sons, Derrick, Donald, and Daniel Eli Esquibel; grandson who was raised like a son, Donald Lee Esquibel; brothers, Leo, Pete, Jose, Aldofo and Eppie Trujillo; sisters, Emma Sisneros and Manuelita Archuleta. Tita is survived by her daughter, Jeanette and husband Benjie Martinez; daughters-in-law, Sandra Roybal and Thelma Esquibel; granddaughters, Julie (Louie) Chacon, Derricka (Estevan) Archuleta, Mallery (Ruben) Manzanares, and Megan (Steven) Martinez; great-grandchildren, Louie, Leah, Nazarae, Jacob, Nathan, Elena, Annika, Mireya, Annelise and Mateo; brother, Lucas (Olivia) Trujillo; sister, Rose Medina and Bertha (Sef) Borrego; sisters-in-law, Mary Trujillo, Nancy Trujillo, Lilly Trujillo and Cleo Martinez.
Tita loved life, especially spending time with family and her grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. She loved to cook, and especially loved when company would go over and join her for a meal. There is so much that will be missed: her infectious laugh, her warm hugs and kisses, her cooking, and her listening ear.
Public visitation will begin at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 27, 2020 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with a private burial to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery due to COVID-19. Serving as pallbearers are; Louie Chacon, Estevan Archuleta, Ruben Manzanares, Steven Trujillo, Louie Eloy Chacon, Jacob Sullivan, Nathan Chacon and Mateo Manzanares. Honorary pallbearers are her great-granchildren.
The family of Vicentita (Tita) Esquibel would like to thank the Hospice nursing staff; Barbara Rose Gregory, Carolina Gutierrez, Cindy Orion, ChaCha Thompson and Chaplin Owen Kunkle. Thank you to all who came to visit, brought food and for all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
