Veronica Ann Batista November 21, 1978 – February 1, 2026
Veronica Ann Batista passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 47. She was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can explain.
Veronica loved unconditionally. She taught everyone around her to meet people where they are and to love without judgment. She believed in feeding people and never hiding food even in the hardest moments because she trusted that God would always provide more. Tomorrow, and the next day too.
Being a mother was the highlight of Veronica’s life. She prayed often for her children, filling her Bible with handwritten prayers asking God to help her be a better mom and to help her love people well. She sacrificed more than anyone ever knew, often going without so her children could have more, and she made sure they never felt the weight of the struggles she carried.
Veronica was adopted by Susan Gallegos and Tano Batista, who loved her deeply and with whom she is now reunited. She is also reunited with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who passed before her.
She leaves behind her children: Isaac Pana, Armando Dauz, Casandra Dauz, and Danica Dauz and her niece Mariah Batista, who held a place in her heart as a daughter. She also leaves behind her siblings: Willie, JoJo, Cheyanne, Audelio, Joann, Evaristo, and Geraldine along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones who will continue to carry her memory, including her partner of seven years, Zev Gutierrez.
Veronica was an example of love, faith, sacrifice, and warmth. She had a beautiful spirit, and a presence that could quiet the noise of life just by being there.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at Valley Bible Baptist Church (56 Arroyo Seco Circle, Espanola NM 87567). In honor of Veronica’s love for life and color, guests are invited to wear colorful clothing if they feel comfortable. Stories and memories are welcome, because stories are how we keep her alive.
She left us with her love, her faith, and her lessons and we will carry her with us into the long future.
The family of Veronica Batista has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the beautiful Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
