Troy Montoya

Troy Montoya, 47, a resident of Espanola, originally from Youngsville, NM, passed away on November 5, 2023.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Jose Ernesto and Virginia Jaramillo, uncles Clifford Jaramillo, Robert Sandoval, and Harry Martinez cousins Leroy, James, Alfred, and Simon Jaramillo.

He is survived by his son Elijah Montoya, daughter Faith Aguilar, parents Daniel and Louisa Pacheco, sisters Crystal Montoya (Leroy), and Lori Lujan (Andrew), nieces Lexianna Montoya (Paul), and Amaiyah Sanchez, nephew Nicko Griego, and many nieces and nephews, aunts Patricia Jaramillo, Debra Wheeler (Anthony), Nieves Velasquez (Norris), Carlota Martinez, and Geraldine Jaramillo, uncles Chon Jaramillo (Lupita), Thomas Jaramillo (Dolores), and Freddy Jaramillo (Rose), Godfather Raoul Montoya, mother of his son Valerie Sanchez, and many close cousins.

Troy was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. He will always be remembered for his gentle loving personality. He always had a big bright smile. He loved the mountains, fishing, hunting, lifting weights, playing video games, pool, and working on his cars. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.  

A public visitation to begin on Thursday November 16, 2023, at 5:00 pm and a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the San Pedro Catholic Church in Youngsville NM and burial to follow at the Youngsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Adrian Sandoval, Dwight Jaramillo, Joe Martinez, Eugene Jaramillo, Leroy Sanchez, Nicko Griego, Paul Montoya and Derrick Jaramillo.

Honorary Pallbearers great nephews Azariah Montoya and Azayah Montoya.
