Morfin, Tomas F. Age – 75 Cortez, Colorado May 23, 2011 Tom was born in Coyote, N.M. and passed away at his home in Cortez, CO. after a lengthily illness. Tom was a life-time farmer and rancher who was known for his hard work and exceptional skills in fence building. He had a special sense of humor & loved to tease. It wasn’t uncommon to find Tom out helping others, or telling his stories about his childhood and life adventures. He enjoyed the outdoors; he loved fishing, hunting, camping, and riding his horse. Tom was a much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed and kindly remembered, by those who knew and loved him. \r\n He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie; infant daughter Pauline; son Melvin Garcia; parents Manuel and Selida Morfin; sister Linda Garcia; brothers Josue and Fermin Morfin, nephew David Morfin. \r\n Surviving Tom are his children, Sheila Castillo and companion, Leopoldo Carrasco of Cortez, Manuel Morfin and wife, Nidia of Santa Fe, N.M. and Kia Whiteskunk of Towaoc; six grandchildren, Monica Morfin of Belen, N.M., Raudy Castillo of Cortez, Tracy Salazer and husband, Joe of Coyote, N.M., Samantha Garcia of Youngsville, N.M., Kateri Bancroft of Towaoc, and Elier Quezada Jr. of Santa Fe, N.M.; and by five great grandchildren. Also surviving Tom are his siblings, Angie Morfin-Romero, Ida Madrid of Espanola, N.M., Benito Morfin and wife, Annette of Arroyo De Agua, N.M., and Fidela Gurule and husband, Leo of Espanola, N.M.; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27th, 2011, at the Ertel Memorial Chapel, 42 N. Market Street, Cortez, CO 81321 (970) 565-3468. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Neely Lewis will officiate.\r\n
