Theresa Sandoval
It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Theresa Sandoval, who passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023. Theresa is proceeded in death by her father Octiaviano Lujan, mother Dolores Lujan, her brother Benny Lujan, sister Cleo Montoya, nephew Anthony Montoya, and her beloved grandma Urbanita Martinez.
Theresa was the heart and cornerstone of her family and went above and beyond for them. She is cherished beyond words. Her faith in God and family were first in her life. Her family was her pride and joy. She instilled importance of faith and prayer in her children and grandchildren by being an example of having a strong love and faith in God through the ups and downs of life. Theresa adored being around her grandkids Aj and Ava. Each had a special place in her heart and did not hear no from their nana, mama nana. She shared her love for reading with by reading each of their favorite books with them.
Theresa often shared stories of adventures growing up in Norwood, CO and Coyote, NM, with her sisters and brother. Stories like going to the store for a whole box of ice cream when their parents were out and eating the whole thing before they got home. Shopping with her sister Cleo, remodeling their grandma’s house with her sister Lucy when they were kids, and how much she spoiled her little brother Benny. She cherished time spent with them.
Her husband Richard talks about how when they met, they both owned muscle cars and loved to go for a cruise. They spent a lot of time at the mall and in the mountains. Theresa loved being outdoors with horses, camping and she helped with the cows. She would do all this dressed up and with a full face of makeup.
Theresa’s children Desiree, Richard and Sarah adored her. She was their constant. They each had a special place in her heart that will endure.
Theresa is survived by her husband Richard Sandoval, daughter Sarah Sandoval, grandchildren Aj and Ava, son Richard Sandoval and daughter Desiree Sandoval (Alex Vargas), her sister Lucy Garcia (Nap Garcia), nephews Marcos Garcia, Mateo Garcia, nephew Patrick Montoya (Suzanne Montoya, brother-in-law Benito Montoya. Niece Nikole Lujan Great nieces Alexis and Jenna Montoya, and, great nephews Ezerah Martinez, Patrick Montoya, Lukas Montoya and numerous relatives and friends.
Services will be held on March 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with burial to follow at the Coyote Cemetery in Coyote, NM.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Theresa’s cherished grandchildren Aj and Ava.
