Teresita D. Medina, 82, a resident of La Villita, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and friends on Monday, October 13, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Rebecca Diaz; brothers, Albert and Tommy Diaz, sister Viola; sisters-in-law Prescilla Diaz, Aileen Diaz and Mabel Diaz; brother-in-law Eddie Lopez.\r\n Teresita graduated from McCurdy High School in 1951 and, after raising her children to school-age, worked for the Espanola Schools until her retirement in 1994. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. One of her biggest joys in life was gathering and celebrating with her brothers, sisters, and extended family at family events. She also loved to dance.\r\nTeresita is survived by her husband of 62 years, Antonio “Ross” Medina; son, Walter and wife Mary, daughters and care-givers Marcie and Louella Medina; granddaughters Erlinda and Maria Medina; sisters Melva Lopez, Orlinda Romero (Bobby), Helen Bustos (Steve), Dorothy Martinez (Clyde) and Estelle Diaz-Valdez (Randy); brothers Bonifacio Diaz, Franklin Diaz (Lucille), and Archie Diaz (Elisa); many cousins, nieces, nephews, and God-Children.\r\nThe family gives a special thanks to her caregiver Ymelda Trejo and care providers from Del Corazon Hospice. A rosary will be recited on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the La Villita Catholic Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers will be her nephews Michael Diaz, Marty Lopez, Tito Romero, Brian Bustos, Donald Diaz, and Calvin Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and all her other nieces and nephews. The family of Teresita D.
