Teodoro (Ted) Martinez

TEODORO (TED) E. MARTINEZ, 78, a resident of Hernandez, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Beronis Martinez; wife, Cecilia Martinez; son, Ernest Martinez; brothers, Willie, Amadeo and Horacio Martinez; sisters, Adelina Martinez, Maria Garcia and Vereranda Flores. Mr. Martinez was an auto mechanic for 40 years. He owned and operated Ted’s Auto Repair in El Guache, N.M. He enjoyed fishing and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed joking and talking to his very special friend, Rosie Verdile. Mr. Martinez is survived by his companion, Frances Salazar; children, Beulah Salazar of Santa Fe, Phillip Gonzales Sr. and wife Cathy of Chimayo, Leona Perez and husband Salvador of Hernandez, Daniel Martinez and wife Yvette of Arroyo Seco and Julia Martinez of Denver, CO; brother, Genaro and wife Jeannie of Reno, NV; sisters, Angie Serna of Albuquerque and Feliz Martinez of El Guache; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Lawrence Martinez, Clarence Martinez, Marty Martinez, Jose Lovato, Wally Martinez and Patrick Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Shaun Gonzales, Phillip Gonzales Jr., Crystal Daniels, Chaz Salazar, Tracy Salazar and Desiree Martinez. The family of Teodoro E. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
