Ted Pena Jr.

January 29, 1939 — February 3, 2024

Ted Pena Jr., 85, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024, after battling a lengthy illness.

Ted was born to Ted and Irene Pena on January 29, 1939, in Springerville, AZ. He later went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. Upon his release from service, Ted had a long career working in the Uranium mines in Grants, NM.

In addition to his parents, Ted and Irene Pena, Ted is preceded in death by his daughter Peggy Pena, son Mario Pena, grandson Michael Pena, along with many brothers, sisters and cousins.

Ted is survived by his children Lynette Perry of Indianapolis, Gary Pena of Kentucky, Tony Pena of Grants, and Jessica Madrid of Stanley; his 9 grandchildren: Gavin Anaya, Adam Pena, Dominque Pena, Raymond Pena, Lawrence Pena, Mario Pena, Toni Pena, Aryana Sanchez, Robert Sanchez and Aryan Sanchez; his 5 siblings; Virginia Long, Karlene Ochoa, Jimmy Pena, Joey Pena and Jackie Pena, numerous great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

The family wises to thank the staff at Professional Case Management for their compassionate care and visits during the last several years, special thanks to MaryAnn Thompson, Cruz Gardea, Jacqui Griego, Jacqueline Griego and several other members of the team for their gracious assisted care giving.

“Teddy Bear” will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor who was always there to support his loved ones. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  

Funeral service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 12:30 pm.

The family would like to invite family and friends for a Celebration of Life immediately after at Old Pecos Trail Café, 2239 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe.
