Steven James Madrid, 52, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry and his grandparents, Tomas and Maria Dominguez. Born in Artesia to Socorro and Henry Madrid of Santa Cruz. Steve was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins from his California, Texas and New Mexico families. Steve enjoyed fishing, Stevie Ray Vaughn, the Minnesota Vikings and working on his 65 Chevy. He was a big man with a big presence and he will be greatly missed. Mr. Madrid is survived by his mother, Socorro, his sisters, Michele “Chow” (MJ deceased), Julie (Sheila), Lisa, Ericka (George), God-son, Justin; nephew, Adrian; nieces, Ashley and Brittany and great-nephew, Dezmond. A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Juan Bautista Parish in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also at the San Juan Bautista Parish in Ohkay Owingeh. A reception to follow immediately after.
