Stephanie L
Romero
April 23, 2026
Stephanie Louise Romero left this world far too soon and unexpectedly on April 23, 2026. She was born on October 26, 1974, in Española, New Mexico, to Archie and Vickie Maestas.
Stephanie attended Española Valley High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and met the love of her life. At just 14 years old, she met her husband, Eddie Romero, with whom she shared 33 beautiful years of love and marriage—a true testament to partnership and devotion.
Stephanie was meant to be a mother. She welcomed her son, Eric, at the age of 18, and her daughter, Meagan, just three years later, embracing motherhood with unwavering love and dedication. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom who poured her heart into raising her children. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, as she cared for many others over the years, babysitting for close friends and relatives.
Later in life, after her children were in school, she spent a brief time working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She later went on to open a business alongside her husband, Eddie. Together, they built a successful life filled with travel and cherished memories.
Stephanie carried a deep generosity of faith that left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her heart was full of love, and she shared it freely with those around her. To know Stephanie was to be loved by her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her son, Eric James Romero. She is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Romero; her daughter, Meagan Chavez; her son-in-law, Jesus Chavez; and her six grandchildren, Steven, Amadius, Aubriee, Diego, Lukas, and Sophia. She is also survived by her parents, Archie and Vickie Maestas, and her sisters, Amanda Marquez (Nick) and Phyllis Montano.
