Sammy L. Vigil Jr.

Sammy L Vigil Jr., 48, of Chimayó, NM, was called home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2023.

Sammy was known for helping out in his community with anyone’s electrical needs. He had a deep love for being in nature, he would go hunting with his cousins, brother, nieces & nephew & would take his children fishing.

He was born on August 8, 1974, and is preceded in death by his father Sammy Vigil Sr, sister Lori Ann Vigil, maternal grandparents Eduardo & Josefina Maestas; paternal grandparents Arturo & Mary Vigil; cousin Yvonne Calvert; close friends Leon & Thomas.

Sammy is survived by his mother: Bernie Vigil, brother: Charles Vigil; children: Victoria Vigil (Jeff), Samantha Vigil (Carlos) & Sammy Vigil III, & Analyssa Garcia (stepdaughter);  grandchildren: Gabbriella Vigil & Naila Vigil; nieces/nephew: Samantha Borrego, Olivia Vigil, & Aaron Vigil; aunts/uncles: Stephanie Martinez (Pula), Candie Chacon, Ruby Maes, Helen (Lawrence), Manuel Martinez, Lily Martinez; godparents: Frank & Ruby Medina; goddaughter: Brianna Archuleta; close cousins: Kathyrn & Julian Martinez, Yvonne (Craig) & Adrianna Williams, Joseph, Bobby & Matias Chacon, Ashley Sandoval, Lorenzo Bustos & Gabriel Archuleta.

Please join our family in celebrating the life of our dear Sammy as we remember him. A Public Viewing will be held in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 6:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Parish in Chimayó at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023. The burial will follow where he will be laid to rest at “Nuestra Señora de Dolores” Cemetery in Chimayó.
