Samuel “Sammy” Salgado Sr., 69, joined our lord on November 30, 2021, with his family by his side in Espanola, NM.
Mr. Salgado was born May 1, 1952, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Juan and Adelina (Martinez) Salgado.
He grew up in Mora, NM until the family moved to Greeley, CO in 1967. Sam would go on to join the U.S. Army in 1973 and proudly serve his country as a mechanic. Sam always had a passion and love for working on and restoring classic cars. He was an avid hunter for finding potential car projects and the replacement parts by searching junk yards and auto parts magazines to complete his works of art. When he was not out back working on his cars, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed taking road trips in his classics and going on vacations with the family. He was at peace when in nature - whether it be the mountains or the beach with the sand between his toes. He also enjoyed quick afternoon trips like driving up the mountain to go fishing or hitting up the casinos for a lucky win. On weekends he would spend time at home designing and crafting Christmas decor with his honsie.
Sam was actively employed with ABC Supplies out of Santa Fe, NM for 28 years, where he was the Delivery Services Manager. He took exceptional pride in his work and has won many awards. He was loved and liked by his coworkers and customers he served.
He is survived by his aunt Viola Martinez of Greeley, CO; brother, Johnny Salgado of Lexington, NE; spouse Connie Garcia of Espanola, NM; Children: Samuel Salgado Jr. (Jon) of Los Angeles, CA; James (Vicktoria) Salgado of Greeley, CO; Bernadette Salgado of Greeley, CO; Mary Helen Castillo of Greeley, CO; Willie (Carrie) Castillo of Greeley, CO; Joe Castillo of Greeley, CO; Matthew Garcia of Espanola, NM; Flor Garcia of Espanola, NM.
