Sally Alarid

d. June 1, 2022

Sally was born in La Loma, NM near Anton Chico.

She grew up with her parents and 10 of her siblings in El Guache NM. They often visited and worked a large ranch in Anton Chico. There was cattle, horses and beautiful alfalfa fields and gardens to tend to. She attended Epanola High School and graduated in 1967. She met Eddie Alarid there and they married in 1972. Sally worked for many years at TG&Y in Espanola, at McCurdy Mission School and finally found her greatest talent, weaving. She created many Chimayo weaving tapestries and blanket mats at the Trujillo Weaving Shop. Her work and designs were admired and sold well, as far as Japan and beyond.

In her words does this obituary reflect.

“To my most little family, my husband Eddie – I have always loved you, we grew up together, grew old together and still lean on each other. -To Javier and Shellie who gave us Christian and Emma, Juliet and Sam who gave us Aliyana and Lucas, thank you. We spend happy hours playing, singing and dancing and sometimes temper tantrums on both sides. You know how that goes!”

“ I felt a quiet acceptance throughout my cancer. I never felt alone these five years, you were all with me, every step. In gratitude to the girls on the third and fourth floor at the UNM Cancer Center who have showed me love and kindness. Remember most of all, that happiness and joy is not possible without God, our Blessed Mother and the Saints in our life.”
