Ruth D. Lucero, 91, a resident of Chamita, New Mexico she was called home after a long battle with cancer on Friday, January 21, 2022. Ruth D. Lucero was preceded in death by her parents Anastacio Domiguez, and Aggie Salazar-Dominguez, maternal grandparents Feliciano and Rebecca Salazar, beloved brother Melaquias Herrera, Great-grandson Antonio Valdez, and beloved daughter-in-law Ella K. Baros. Goddaughters; Jenny Atencio, and Rosemay (Weda) Gonzales and Godson Tony Salazar. Ruth was born in Rifle, CO and was raised in Chamita, NM. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Ruth was a jack of all trades. She worked at everything that came her way to raise her family. She worked over forty-five years at Casados Farms from picking chili to packing, delivering products, and other work with her comadre Juanita Casados. Ruth belonged to the Holy Family Choro Chamita and the blessed sacrament at St. John the Baptist church located in Ohkay Owingeh.
Ruth has left a void in our hearts, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church, with a Rosary to follow at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with burial to follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Chamita.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Joey, Eric Sr., Melaquias, Eric Valdez Jr., Carlos Martinez, Ivan Mendez, Benjamin and Jose Baros. Honorary pallbearers; Aggie Mendez, Rebecca Dupree, and all great, and great-great grandchildren.
Ruth D. Lucero is survived by son Ricky Baros of El Guache NM, daughters Yolanda Martinez, and Josie (Ralph) Valdez of Chamita NM. Granddaughters Aggie (Gavino) Mendez, and Rebecca Dupree of Chamita. Grandsons; Carlos Martinez, Joey Valdez, Eric (Lisa) Valdez all of Chamita, Melaquias (Julie) Valdez of El Rancho, NM. Jose (Samantha) Baros and Benjamin Baros of El Guache. God-Daughters Rebecca Dupree of Chamita, NM., and Darlene Maestas of Velarde, NM. also Sylvia Herrera who was like a Daughter. As well as 18 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great, Great Grandchildren.
