Ruby Q. Marchant, 89, born and raised in Cuarteles, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Victorinio and Albenta Quintana; son, Jimmy Espinoza; siblings, Aspiridian, Manuel, Benjamin, Benito, and Jimmy Quintana, Tonnie Abeyta, Aggie Serna and Isabell Quintana; sisters-in-law, Josie Lujan and Celsa Quintana; brother-in-law, Ben Espinoza; first husband, Ernesto Espinoza; second husband, Rob Marchant and special friend Mel Manzanares. Ruby lived a full life and how she wanted: full of adventure. She was in several movies, “Two Flags West,” “Twins,” “White Sands,” “The Milagro Beanfield War” and “Young Guns” to name a few. She was also a member of the Carge Club named “Buggie Bits” and the motor home club. Ruby owned lots of Buggies, one of her favorites was the “Queen Victorian” which the Queen rode in. Ruby’s passion was collecting and selling antiques. She loved playing the guitar and taught her grandchildren to play her favorite song, “You Are My Sunshine.” She started her own band called “Andale” and she loved dancing with her dance group, Los Coloñates de Santa Fe. Ruby went to the Senior Olympics Nationals four times and was the first lady from Santa Fe County to do so, earning many medals to show for her hard work. Ruby loved to travel as she visited many beautiful places such as Puerto Rico, Magellan, the Virgin Islands, Spain, Africa, Italy, Germany, Hawaii and many more. Ruby is survived by her children, Erneda Espinoza, Leroy Espinoza (Dona) and Evelyn Livermore (Lynn); sister-in-law, Martha Vigil and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A very special thanks to Hospice del Corazon, Dr. Mylie, nurse, Tony Angelman, her God-daughter, Amy Hightower, nephew, Bobby Quintana, grandson, Paul “Polito” Martinez and granddaughter, Jessica Garcia who took care of her 24/7 with the support of her husband Anthony Garcia. A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 12:00 p.m. also at Holy Cross. Serving the family as pallbearers will be her dance group, Los Coloñales de Santa Fe. The family of Ruby Q. Marchant has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
