Roselio “Rusty” Varela, 77, passed away peacefully in Canon Plaza, surrounded by his loved ones, after being cared for by his daughter and grandchildren.
Roselio loved being outdoors: hunting, gardening, and spending quality time with family and his beloved dogs.
Roselio had many roles in life. He was a veteran, a coalminer, a postman, he was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mt Caramel catholic church in Canon Plaza, and a member of Raza Unida, but his favorite roles were father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Was preceeded in death by his parents Natividad Varela and Simonita Martinez; his wife Georgia Marquez; brothers Simon; Larry, Donald, Gilbert Varela, and sisters Flora Montano and Virginia Ortega.
He is survived by his daughter Rosella Varela; grandchildren Rusti Dawn, Amurae, Xavier and Derrick Varela; great-grandchildren Arion and Arabella Varela; brothers Porfirio, Arturo, Joseph (Ruth) and Marvin (Hope) Varela; sisters Connie Ortega, Elsie Martinez, and Mary Frances (Ted) Gallegos, and his many Godchildren, friends, and family. Roselio always went out of his way to help everyone around him. He changed many lives and will be missed endlessly.
