Romanita C. Salazar, 66 , a resident of El Llano, most recently of McCurdy, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

Roma or Rommie as she was also known as, was born September 17, 1955, in Espanola to her parents Andres and Grace Coriz Salazar.

She attended and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1973, soon after she moved to her beloved Albuquerque, where she was employed by the General Electric Co. producing components for aircraft engines. As she started her family, she moved back to Espanola to raise them in the Valley she also loved.

She will always be remembered for her kindness on helping everyone that came to her for their needs. She had a loving heart and was always there for her family and friends.

Roma was a sharp dresser who was always dressed to a T, along with her cosmetics. She loved going on long drives through norther New Mexico with friends and family along with her faithful dog “Chiquito”.

She was preceded in death by her father Andres Salazar, brother Alex Salazar, sisters, Rosemary Rivera, and Patricia Lewis, nephew Lawrence Salazar, and brother-in-law Michael Valdez.

Roma is survived by her mother Grace Coriz Salazar, son Alejandro Mascarenas of Chamita, daughter Lorenza Romero of White Rock, grandson she loved and raised as her own Andres Acosta of the family home, also by grandchildren Lucas Mascarenas of Fairview, Angelique and newborn grandson Adiel, brother Sammy (Shirley) Salazar of La Mesilla and sister Teresita Valdez of El Llano, and special friend Cecilia Aldereta of Albuquerque.

A public visitation will begin on Tuesday December 21, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel and De Vargas Funeral Home and Crematory, a Rosery will be held on December 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Santa Cruz de Canada with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery
