Roger Frank Dominguez

Roger F. Dominguez, 84, of Chamisal, New Mexico, was called home by our Heavenly Father in the early hours of July 25, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife and three loving children. A man of few words, each one carried the weight of his hard-won wisdom. He brightened every room with his warm sense of humor and smile.

Roger retired from the NM Department of Transportation after many years of faithful work. He found peace and renewal in the outdoors—camping under the stars, walking the nearby mountains, tinkering in the garage and working on his craft projects. Music was his constant companion, from joyful gospel, traditional Northern NM Spanish tunes to the twang of classic country.

Roger was preceded by in death by his mother Pilar Dominguez; older sister Clyda; in-laws Fermin and Virginia Pacheco; special aunts and uncle Maggie, Clora, Eufelia, and Billy; brothers and sisters-in-law Carlos and Carlotta Garcia; Benjamin Casados; Sam and Ernestine Cordova; Aurelio and Emerlinda Pacheco; Robert Johnson; Adonio Pacheco; Jose Pacheco; nephews Emery Lujan and Ricky Dominguez.

Roger is survived by his wife of 62 years Virginia Dominguez (My Gina); son Rodrick Dominguez and wife Rosie; daughters Juliet Lopez and husband Frankie and Carolee O'Connell and husband Daniel; 17 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, and 7 grand chickens; siblings Silas Dominguez and wife Betty, Clyda Black and husband Ed, Casimira Lujan and husband Gilbert, Aaron Dominguez, Joselyn Albers and husband Mike; in-laws: Edonila Casados, Helen Johnson, Lillian Pacheco (Madrina), Frank Pacheco and wife Elaine, Regina Pacheco, Sarita Lopez and husband Adolfo; a very special cousin Andrea Lopez; Godson Daniel Dominguez and Ahijados, Abie and Loretta Lopez; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Catalina Voinescu, Dr. Stephen Lucero and their compassionate staff for their dedicated care.

Services are as follows:

Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Public Viewing at 5:00 PM. Service at 6:00 PM at DeVargas Funeral Home, Espanola, NM.

Thursday, July 31, 2025, Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Penasco, NM (14 State Road 73 Penasco, NM). Burial to follow at the Chamisal Community Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers: Fabian Montoya, Royce Nez, Peter Garcia Jr., Mario Garcia, Che Mondragon and Robert Sanchez.

Roger's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart will live on in all who knew him.
