ROBERT J SALAZAR, known to many as Bobby, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at his home in Alcalde surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso Salazar and Rosemarie Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Aureliano and Lucinda Salazar, maternal grandparents who raised him Enrique and Jeannie Edmonds. Bobby was a kid at heart, evident by the special bond he formed with all and any kid he came to know. He loved competition of all sorts whether sports, games, or gambling, but he especially liked boxing and playing the ponies. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping and “Carne Seca de Venado”. His lifelong teams were the Yankees, the Celtics, and the Cowboys. He lived simply, traveled lightly and made friends easily. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobby is survived by his long time loving companion Angela Herrera; her dad Benito; sister, Karen (Clarence and Joel), the entire Herrera and Roybal families who loved and adored and accepted him unconditionally. Their love and support will endure eternally, children, Bobby and wife Emily, Jeffrey, Jeanann, and Carlos; grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel, Gabriel, Thiana, Dennis, Santos and Lucas, great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Delilah and Benjamin; brothers, Jose and Dale (Eileen), sisters, Judy and Hendi (Peter) and step father, Arturo Sanchez, nephews, Michael, Christopher and Jose; nieces, Mya, Feliz, Christina and Sally and many other special aunts, uncles and cousins from Denver, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Public Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, with a burial to follow at La Villita Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Ryan, Daniel, Gabriel and Michael Salazar, Dennis Lovato, Paul Martinez, Adam Smith and Peter Lujan.
