Robert Steve Garcia

Robert S. Garcia aka “Turkey”, 81, of El Duende, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 10, 2023. Robert was born and raised in Mosquero, NM.  He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Lydia Garcia, grandmother who raised him, Theodorita Muniz, and grandson Carlos Vigil.

Robert graduated from Mosquero High School in 1961, he was a great basketball player for the Mosquero Pirates and voted the mostly likely to succeed in his class. That he did!  Robert was an Electrician by trade, very well-known, having mentored many apprentices during his tenure as an electrician. Robert retired from IBEW Local 611 in 2003, having worked on many projects, most notable Johnston Island, Intel, Los Alamos National Laboratory, etc.  He was a devout Catholic, member of the Knights of Columbus, and proud participant of the Espanola Valley ACTS.  Robert loved his family, reading, crossword puzzles, sports, fishing, hunting and horse races.  He had a heart for all people, especially the needy.  Robert was loved by many and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his daughters: Theresa Vigil and Roberta Catanach (Jimmy), son: Juan Garcia (Suzzette), mother of his children Adela Garcia, grandsons: Michael Graham, Robert Vigil, James Catanach, and Chris Martinez, granddaughters: Monica Valerio, Adrianna Catanach, Alyssa Baca, Aileen, Miranda, Angelica and Jazzmyn Martinez; great-grandchildren: Alicianna, Randy, Marcus, April, Brooke, Joziyah, Violet, Mikayla, Michael, Jaiden, Kiana, Ezeriah, Loveah, Allison, Adrian, Jeremiah, Eva, Maliyah, and Dante;  great-great grandson Adrien; step-mother Nora Garcia of Denver, longtime companion Reyecita Archuleta of San Juan, Daniel, 8 sisters, 4 brothers, and countless friends of which include IBEW Local 611, all who were special to him.

Services: Family & Friends visitation at 6:00 PM & Rosary following at 7:00 PM, on Friday, October 27, 2023, at DeVargas Funeral Home, Espanola NM.

A Mass of Christian Burial, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, NM, at 10:00 AM.
