Robert Dannewitz was born on March 28, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois. He was the son of Mary C Wright and William Dannewitz.

Bob started working at Muller corp. as a design draftsman upon graduation for high school. In 1953 Bob Picked up his family and went west after accepting a position at LANL(Los Alamos National Laboratory) and fell in Love with Los Alamos with the Great outdoors, his love for this never faded.

Bob retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1982 He worked in many divisions, and enjoyed his work, but mostly those he worked with.

Bob was the quintessential storyteller and his all-time favorite was about his loving wife Margie. Although Margie preceded Bob in death, Bob continue to celebrate that he “met his bride when she was just a baby.” Bob’s mother assisted with Margie’s birth and Bob came along, playing with Margie’s older sister downstairs. Shortly after Margie’ s birth, she was brought down and introduced to Bob. Margie and Bob grew up in the same neighborhood and that childhood friendship blossomed into romance, and they were married on June 26, 1948.

Bob and Margie were proud parents to Robert (Naomi “neoma”) Dannewitz of Fort Worth, Texas, Nancy (Frank) Weidner of cedar Texas, and Robert Len Dannewitz of Los Alamos, New Mexico. He is grandfather and great grandfather to Noel Dannewitz, Joshua Dannewitz, Shauna Ford, Tasha Smith, Nichkolaus Dannewitz, Shyanne Olson, Andon Dannewitz, Natalie Ford, Lilly Dannewitz, Daliah Ford, Jayden Cathey, Tarah Smith, Makayla Barton, Margo Ford, and Izabella Williams.

Bob enjoyed Traveling with his wife, and son in their motor home. Bob’s major interest were Hunting, fishing, backpacking, anything out doors, he was active in the boy scouts. He also enjoyed working on his home to make it just the way his wife and family wanted. Along with so many other interest that he enjoyed.

Bob was a long-time member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico as a founding member in 1954. He served in several positions over the years for the church and fully enjoyed attending the fellowship luncheon to share more stories with his friends. Bob’s firm commitment to Jesus Christ, expressed in serving, studying, and giving, deepened many friendships.

Bob was an incredible gentleman, and it was a joy to journey with him for laughs, good memories, and in the wink of an eye, a color slide or two.

In lieu of or in addition of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
