Riley C. - Age 67 - Alcalde Edmonds

Riley C. Edmonds, 67, a resident of Alcalde, born on May 14, 1946, departed from this world to be with our Lord on Friday, November 29, 2013 following a lengthy illness. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwardo and Genera Edmonds; brothers, Augustine, Joe, Gilbert, Richard, and Mike Edmonds and sister, Isabel Martinez. He dedicated 29 years of service as a teamster/truck driver and supervisor for taxi services and retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He also dedicated most of his time as a barber and enjoyed cutting hair for his family and friends. He will be missed dearly although we know he is now resting at peace. Mr. Edmonds is survived by his wife, Ernestine Padilla Edmonds, 67 of Alcalde; daughters, Judy and husband Gilbert Martinez, Sr., Brenda Edmonds and husband Adam Martinez all of Alcalde; grandchildren, Gilbert Martinez, Jr., Angeline Martinez and companion Modesto Rodriguez, Allen Sandoval, Jr., Ayden Martinez, and Alize Martinez; great-grandchildren, Britney and Jordan Martinez; sisters, Virginia Edmonds of Arizona, Fela and husband Martin Guillen, and Susie and husband Henry Lopez; brother, Eddie and wife Alvera Edmonds all of Alcalde; brother-in-law, Arsenio Martinez as well as several nephews and nieces. Public visitation will begin on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. and a wake to follow at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owinegh. Burial to follow at the Alcalde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Matthew Edmonds, Nelson Edmonds, Wayne Edmonds, Arsenio Martinez, Carlos Guillen, Brandon Romero, Leroy Schultz, and Daniel Lopez. Honorary pallbearers named are Ernesto Martinez, Genero Martinez, Phillipe Rivera, Mike Montoya, Jose Chavez and cousin Arturo “Buckweed” Martinez.
