It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Reynaldo Lovato, a loving husband and father, proud grandfather, and beloved great grandfather. Reynaldo passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife & children on June 7, 2025, at the age of 91.
Reynaldo was born March 31, 1934, to Ignacio & Lauriana Lovato. He lived a meaningful life of many joys and adventures. Reynaldo worked as a sheep herder, trapper, and logger for many years. He loved fishing and spending time with all his family. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. Reynaldo had a great sense of humor and was a magnificent story teller. He would always get the children’s imagination going with his humor and ability to stretch the details of the stories.
He married his wife, Maria Victoria, on January 4, 1958. They built a beautiful life together and had five children, living & raising their family in Gallina, New Mexico.
Reynaldo was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carmen, and sisters Epimenia, Pablita, Victoria, Maria, and Rosa.
Reynaldo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maria Victoria; daughters Arabella and Sylvia (Larry); sons Epimenio (Paula), Frank (Janice), and Ray (Charlotte); numerous grandchildren Belamie, Jose (Chrissy), Wayne, Tristan, Jailyn, Beranda (Pedro), Amber (Jordan), Richard, Justin, Elias, Leandra, Clarabelle (Estevan), Annabelle, Brandon, Caitlyn (Jeremy) and his 15 great grandchildren.
Reynaldo’s presence will surely be missed, but his memory and love will live in our hearts forever.
A Public Visitation will be held in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 5:30 pm, with a Memorial Service at 6:00 pm.
Services for Thursday, June 19, 2025, will take place at 10:00 am at the Salitral Temple Getsemani (Private Drive 1646, Gallina, NM), with burial to follow in Gallina, NM.
The family would like to extend the invitation to share a meal and their memories of Reynaldo a the old Coronado High School Gym following the burial.
Pallbearers will be his Grandsons Jose Salazar, Wayne, Brandon Jailyn, Justin & Elias Lovato as well as his Great Grandsons Kevin & Samuel Martinez.
