It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Reycita Kathleen La Pointe, known to most as “Kat” or “Kathy”. She passed away in her home on March 24, 2017 in Santa Clara Pueblo. She was 44. Kathy was born on May 28, 1972. She attended the New Mexico Northern College and was a graduate of Arizona Automotive Institute.
Kathy was bright and very outgoing. She loved to sing and go dancing. She especially loved to attend Pow wows. Kathy was a Jingle dress dancer. Being very creative, she made some her own Pow wow regalia. Kathy was also a bit of a tomboy. Growing up and visiting our Lakota family in Rosebud, South Dakota she would be found helping out at branding time with the cows and horses. She was about 3 when she tried her hand at roping from the top a truck.
She had a fierce determination and a strong will that defined her life. She loved to laugh. She was a jokester and could be heard laughing up a storm! Her friendships were infused with simplicity, sincerely and love. Those closest to her knew what they meant to her and she was fiercely loyal. She was always willing to help someone in need.
Kathy loved her children very much and was very proud of them.
Kathy is survived by her parents, Ron and Rozella La Pointe, Sons, Alex La Pointe and wife Brandi and Logan La Pointe. Sister, Lisa La Pointe-Tafoya and husband Mel. She is also survived by many Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
