Rebecca Diane Sanchez

Rebecca (Becky) D. Sanchez, age 73 of Arroyo Seco, NM, was born on February 1, 1950, and was taken to be with our Lord on Friday, September 8, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernesto and Lugardita Griego of Apodaca, NM, mother and father-in-law, Guillermo and Irene “Nene” Sanchez of Embudo, NM.

Becky was a proud wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family dearly and was a woman of great faith who prayed the rosary daily. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially baking her delicious biscochitos, which everyone loved and asked for. Becky was loved by many, including friends who checked in on her every day. Her grandchildren have special memories of their “Nano” making sure they were always fed and taken care of. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Rosendo J. Sanchez; her only child, son Matthew Sanchez and wife Angelina; grandchildren Matthew Sanchez (Dominique Martinez), Alicia Sanchez (Dominic Roybal), and Derek Sanchez (Wailea Gallegos), all of Arroyo Seco, NM; siblings Delfirio Velasquez and wife Eloisa of Corona, CA, Sadie Gabaldon and husband Hank of Albuquerque, NM and Clyde Griego of Apodaca, NM; brothers-in-law William Sanchez and wife Gloria of Embudo, NM, John Sanchez and wife Rosie of Yorba Linda, CA, Frank Sanchez and wife Helen of Embudo, NM, Tom Sanchez and wife Anita of Albuquerque, NM, and Augustine “Tiny” Sanchez and wife Pearl of Albuquerque, NM. Becky is also survived by special friend and whom she considered a daughter Rachel McMath, and special friends, Helen Atencio, Evila Rendon, Doris Struck, Gladys Saldana and Sara Chavez.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, followed by a family visitation at 7:00 pm.  On Saturday, September 16, 2023, a Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church in Espanola, NM.  Burial will take place after mass at Father Kupper Cemetery in Embudo, NM.
