Rebecca Borrego, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2017, at the age of 82 years after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers. Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her faith was the core of how she lived her life, always giving selflessly. She possessed a quiet strength, was a kind, generous, patient, and gentle woman. She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room and that's how we will remember her.
Rebecca was an active woman working as a Reading Resource Aide at Holy Cross School for 17 years. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of Holy Cross Parish. She also taught Catechism for many years, volunteered at the Española Hospital and worked the elections. She was an avid bowler and earned many pins and trophies. She traveled with her husband and some of her children to many parts of the world including the Holy Land, the Vatican, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City and other religious sites that were very special to her. She also traveled to World Youth Day in Denver to see Pope John Paul II. Rebecca loved music and loved to dance.
Rebecca, lovingly known by all as “Becky”, predeceased by her parents, Salomon Jaramillo, Sr. and Maria Emiteria Espinosa-Jaramillo; in-laws Adrian and Elena Borrego; and by her son, Adrian Gilbert Borrego.
Rebecca is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gilbert and their 11 children, Karen Duran (Dennis) of Sombrillo; Susan Molina of Denver; Patricia Gurule (Tim) of Corrales; Valerie Borrego Urrea (Tomás) of Albuquerque; Connie Maestas of Albuquerque; Bonnie Montoya (Joseph) of La Villita; Thomas Borrego (Melissa) of Santa Cruz; Renee Garfias (Erik) of Denver; Rebecca Borrego of Taos; Melissa Borrego (Chris Chaffin) of Rio Rancho; and Therese Dixon (Leonard) of Albuquerque.
Rebecca is survived by her siblings, Joe H. Jaramillo of Las Cruces; Celene Maestas of Espanola; Salomon Jaramillo, Jr. (Lucy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Paul Jaramillo (Rose) of Espanola; Benjamin Jaramillo (Helen) of Los Angeles; Loretta Fresquez (David) of Espanola; Steven Jaramillo (Mabel) of Espanola; Caroline Crone (Tim) of Espanola; and Geraldine “Geri” Origer (Timothy) of Santa Fe.
Rebecca is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lourdes Fresquez, Emma Borrego, Susie Borrego, Leroy and Ciria Borrego, Manuel and Maggie Borrego, and Emelda Roybal.
Rebecca is survived by 23 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with A second rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family of Rebecca Borrego has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
