Ramona D. Martinez, born October 29, 1944, to Hermando and Emilina Montoya in Española, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon; children, Roland and Renee; and siblings Ines Ortiz, Manuel Montoya, Margaret Montoya, Ida Ortiz, Janet Montoya, Juan “Choco” Montoya, and Victor Montoya.

She is survived by Josie Montoya; Rachel Lowe (Jim); Yolanda Montoya; Ernest Montoya (Linda); brother-in-law Tony Ortiz; sister-in-law Bernie Montoya; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ramona retired from Española Public Schools, where many students fondly remembered her. She loved music, restoring oldies with her husband, crafting, and had a deep love for all her pets. A fun-loving jokester, she enjoyed making others laugh and was a devoted Catholic.

Services will take place on August 25, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola with a rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:30 am, Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Logan Vigil, Anthony Ortiz, Armando Aguilar, Ernest Montoya, James Lowe, and Jarrod Lowe.
