Ramon Sandoval

d. June 30, 2025

Albuquerque / Las Trampas

Ramón Louie Sandoval, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, was called to eternal life on Monday, June 30, 2025. He was born on May 14, 1971, in Los Alamos and raised in Las Trampas, New Mexico. He is the youngest of eleven children.

Ramon was a country boy who carried his family’s work ethic and that of many others who live in Northern NM. He began working in the construction industry immediately after graduating in 1990. He demonstrated his innate talents and progressed from journeyman to become the estimator and project manager for Winter Finishes, LLC. He was proud of his career accomplishments, which included award-winning projects such as the Sandia Casino and Resort, as well as several other notable projects.

His heart lay in the mountains. As a boy, he played in the mountain behind the house or the acequia and canova with his siblings and neighbors. He loved eating sweet peas from the garden, but his allergies were so bad that he was often excused from working and would be delivered the garden goodies by Grandma Fermina.

As a teenager, he owned a dirt bike and discovered his favorite fishing and camping spots. As an adult, one of his favorite things to do was to show off his culinary skills on his disco and Dutch oven. He loved trying new recipes that he learned from watching cooking videos. Camping with him was more like glamping.

Ramon sought to discover new places in New Mexico and Colorado to enjoy his hobbies, but his favorite spots were right where he grew up and where he could spend time with family and old friends. He was adventurous and enjoyed sharing his experiences with family, such as jumping into the Blue Hole of Santa Rosa, boating at Navajo Lake, hiking at Jemez Falls, and hitting the slopes in Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek. Ramon loved and lived life to the fullest. His adventures kept him young at heart.

Ramon enjoyed spending time with his family, and his nieces and nephews were some of his favorite companions. He was always willing to share life’s lessons with them. Their conversations were not only fun and lighthearted but were also deep and thought-provoking. However, nothing could compare to the memories he made with his siblings and kids.

He was very prideful in all aspects of his life, from his surname and family to his choice of sunglasses. He was handsome, and he knew it. But above all, he was humble, generous, and loving. He gave without expecting anything in return. His laughter was shared with far too many to count. There was room for everyone in his heart, but his grandson, his Nene, was the apple of his eye. Friends were important to him, and his social nature made him a friend to many. He would light up the room with his presence and beautiful smile.

Though he was very outgoing, he was also very private. His relationship with the Lord was intimate. Family and cultural traditions were important to him and had a profound impact on the man he became.

He was preceded in death by his parents, José Andres and Genoveva Sandoval, baby brother David, sister Veronica, and his grandparents Fermina Leyba, Fidel, and Rebecca Sandoval.

Ramon is survived by his children: Fredrick Gallegos, Isaac Sandoval (Maya), Alexandria Sandoval (Matt), Gabriella Sandoval, and grandchildren Noah, Eden, Aria, and Baby baby Isaac; siblings: Patricia Torres (Johnny), Josephine Martinez (Isaac), Genevieve S. Sandoval, Suzanne P. López (Estevan), José Andres Sandoval, Conrad Sandoval (Phylis), Rebecca Sandoval, David Sandoval, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
