Obituary

Ralph R. Trujillo, of Hernandez, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1956, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Jose E. and Manuelita Trujillo of Coyote, New Mexico, and was the first of five children.

Ralph dedicated more than 40 years to Los Alamos National Laboratory’s SIGMA Complex, where he was respected for his skill, hard work, and dedication. Upon retirement, he was fondly known as “Los Alamos National Laboratory’s best-kept secret.”

Ralph was a proud fourth-generation rancher and a true cattleman who found his greatest peace at his beloved ranch in La Mesa de Poleo, where he devoted countless hours to tending his cattle and horses. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and camping.

Blessed with skilled hands and a generous spirit, Ralph took great pride in welding and creating meaningful pieces for family and friends. From welding a simple bike frame for a child to completing larger projects that can still be seen throughout the state, his work stands as a lasting testament to his talent, dedication, and kindness.

Above all, Ralph cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, padrino, and friend, always offering wisdom, strength, and support to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Albert Ralph Trujillo; his parents; his in-laws, Jacobo and Lydia Maestas; several beloved family members; and his cherished pets.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Naomi Trujillo; his children, Daniel Trujillo (Erin) and Alberta Garcia (Ross); his grandchildren, Cooper Beavers (Reyana), Clarabelle Garcia (Aaron), Jake Trujillo, Josiah Garcia, Jacob Garcia, and Albert Garcia; his siblings, Elaine Martinez (Ernesto), Marvin Trujillo (Diane), Martin Trujillo (Tommie), and Mark Trujillo; along with many extended family members and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandkids Cooper Beavers, Clarabelle Garcia, Jake Trujillo, Josiah, Jacob and Albert Garcia.

A Rosary will take place on Monday April 20, 2026, at 9:30 am at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Hernandez.

He has taken his final ride, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet wisdom that will live on in all who knew him.

The family of Ralph R. Trujillo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Beautiful Espanola Valley 505-747-7477.
