Ralph Roybal

Ralph “Kiner” Roybal, age 86, a lifelong resident of Espanola, NM, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by his loving children. He was born on December 30, 1934 to the late David and Carlota Roybal in Espanola.

Ralph retired from Los Alamos Public Schools as a warehouse clerk. Above all, he enjoyed watching his grandsons play high school basketball and was a dedicated Espanola Valley Sundevil basketball fan. He also loved spending time in Espanola visiting with family and friends and, in his younger years, enjoyed elk hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents David and Carlota Roybal, his brothers; Benigno Roybal, Tony “Green” Roybal, and Dan Roybal.

Ralph leaves behind the mother of his children, Linda Roybal of Albuquerque, NM; sons Ralph Roybal Jr. and Roland Roybal of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Yvonne Martinez (Dominic), grandchildren Nicole Martinez, Nate Martinez, Sean Martinez, and Derek Martinez of Corrales, NM. He is also survived by his sister Claudina Serrano of San Francisco, CA; brother Ted Roybal (Sally) of Espanola, NM; sister Stella Quintana of Espanola, NM; sister Angie Salazar of Albuquerque, NM, sisters-in-law Carlota Roybal of Espanola, NM, Frances Gomez of Santa Fe, NM, Berlina Herrera (Gabriel) of Nambe, NM, and Priscilla Garcia of Chili, NM, also, brother-in-law Donald Maestas (Samantha) of El Guache, NM.

A rosary will take place at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz at 10:00 am  followed by the mass of the Christian Burial  at 11:00 am on December 21, 2021. A private burial will take place at a later time.
