Rachel Garcia

We are greatly saddened by the loss of our beloved daughter, sister, mother, Nana, Auntie, cousin, and friend Rachel (Giggles) Garcia.

Rachel, 42, of Espanola, and formerly of Chamita, had a big heart and an amazingly beautiful smile and a laugh to go with it!

Rachel was born April 17, 1979.  Rachel was called home to Heaven on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

Rachel worked at Bode’s in Abiquiu for 5 years and enjoyed her job tremendously. She began as a cashier, but by the time she left Bode’s, she had earned the responsibility of becoming the receiving inventory clerk.

Rachel loved her family, and was super excited to be a grandma, or Nana as she preferred. She will be greatly missed and leaves a void that will only be filled when we reunite in Heaven!

Our Rachel is survived by her beloved mom Pam Cruz (Gene Herrera), her children Destiney (Uli), Kristen (Damian), Chris (Danielle), and her first grandson Jatniel, also her brother Jarrett Cruz who she was very close to, and special nephew Elias. She is also survived by her best friends Bernadette Martinez, and Pauline Gee, Special co-workers Sylvia and Maria, Aunts and Uncles Leonard (Bonnie), Maria (Harold), Bernie (Manuel), Juanita, Sharon (Cesario), Beverly (Carlos), Debbie, Lorie, Valerie, Ernest (Carol), Angela (Waldy), Annabel (Robert), Linda (Ruben), as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Rachel was preceded in death by her biological father Rudy Garcia, her maternal grandmother Santana Cruz, maternal Uncles Vicente “Bobo” Cruz Jr., Ronnie “Todd” Cruz, Jeff Montoya and Bert Jaquez, cousins Joe, Chris and Emilio Martinez, Jeremy "Sherm" Trujillo, and Eric Munoz. She is also preceded by her paternal grandparents Felix and Erminia Garcia, Uncles Ruben and Manuel Martinez, Gilbert, Anthony and Fabian Garcia as well as Aunts Cisnel Lopez, and Barbara Martinez, cousins James, Crystal, Adrian Jr., and very close cousin Ivan Garcia.

Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Jarrett Cruz, Jessie Trujillo, Elijah Lopez, J.R. Valdez, Chris Garcia, and Joseph Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers will be her children, nephew, and her grandson.

Services are as follows: Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 5:00 pm at the DeVargas Funeral Home of Espanola on Monday December 27, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the New Creation at the Christ Ministries Church in Espanola, NM with a fellowship meal to follow.

A private burial will take place at a later date.
