Proni Padilla Corral

Proni Padilla Corral, 86, a resident of Truchas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 5th, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Hipolito and Dulcinia Padilla; sons, Hank and Paul, and husband Hank Corral; sisters—Adonaisa Aragon and Rose Padilla; brothers—Willie, Zacarias, Arcenio, and Avenago Padilla; half sisters—Beronis Hampton and Percide Barela; nephews—David and Jerry Padilla, and niece—LouAnn Alvarez.

Proni is survived by her sister Oralia and husband Charlie Jaramillo; sister in-laws—Ida Padilla, Diane Kast, Gloria Loyola, and Henrietta Gonzalez; nephews and nieces; Harry and Jessie Padilla; Frank, Tom, and Rebecca Aragon; Merline Sandvand and Jeffrey Padilla, Leona Miller, Martha Padilla; Dulcie Romero; Clarabelle and Sandra Padilla; Heidi Moya, Jody Martinez, Jen Anaya, and Charlotte Jaramillo; Michele Lucay, and her great nieces and nephews.

Proni was born and raised in Truchas. She attended a boarding school called Allison James, 7th and 8th grade; Española Valley High School, 9th grade; Santa Cruz High School, 10th grade; and Menaul High School, 12th grade, and then transferred back to Santa Cruz High School and graduated.

After graduating from high school, she moved to California and worked in a factory, and saved money for about a year and a half. During this time, she met a young man. That young man would later become the love of her life—her husband, Hank Corral. Before they got married, she continued her schooling and became a nurse. They had two sons together, named Hank and Paul. Both of her sons passed away in their teens. Her husband passed away several years later. After he passed away, she decided to move back to Truchas and continued to live there until she passed away. Even though she went through so much with the passing of her sons and husband, she was so full of life and always kept her faith in Jesus Christ. She never neglected to shine her light—and she always showed herself friendly. She was so talkative and enjoyed conversing with her loved ones and anyone else she would befriend. She was a very friendly, loving, and outgoing individual who made friends everywhere she went.

Awake service will be on Friday September 16, 2022 at 6:30 PM at the Sangre de Christo Chapel at DeVargas funeral home in Espanola, NM. A Funeral Service will take place also on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Presbyterian Church in Truchas, NM.

Pallbearers will be Nephew; Tom Aragon, Great Nephews; Andre and Willie Padilla, Scott and Paul Aragon; Cousin, Michael Panas.
