Prescilla Romero

d. February 8, 2022

Prescilla Romero, our mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-great Grandmother and Aunt fell asleep on February 8, 2022 to awake in the Lord’s Loving Arms.  She joined her husband of over 69 years, Antonio Romero, who passed on April 28, 2007 and her son Leroy Romero.  Gone before were; her Tatita Victor y Mama Verones Romero; hermanas; Adonelia Pacheco, Cipia Domingues, hermanos; Arsenio, Felix, Moises y Jeremias Romero. Her father and mother-in-law Cresenciano y Rosana Romero.

Mom was born in Cordova New Mexico in 1926, she loved attending school, however, the economic time did not allow her to complete the 12th grade.  She worked in Los Alamos where she met Antonio, a young man from Truchas who has enlisted into the US Army.  She and Antonio were married and established a life that blessed them with 8 children. Prescilla was a loving stay-at-home mom living in Truchas, while Antonio worked out-of-state bringing home monies to provide a humble and loving casa. She always opened her home and invited friends and family to a good home cooked meal of fresh tortillas, papitas, beans, chili verde y colorado.  Times were hard but we, the children, never lacked for anything. Mama y Papa Antonio always took great care of the 8 blessings God gave them.  In 1964, Prescilla and Antonio moved to La Mesilla.  Antonio wanted to provide and easier life for our mother with inside running water, access to schools, shopping and medical services.

Throughout her life Prescilla was very healthy and rarely was attended by a doctor.  In the final chapter of her life, she continued to enjoy good health and was always surrounded by her many children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Surviving Antonio y Prescilla are five sons; Robert (Bobby) and wife Peggy, Emerson and Rene Romero, Arthur and Theresa (Jinky) Romero, Rudy and Arlene Romero and Andrew Romero. Two daughters; Eva and husband Remijio Pacheco, Cindy Marie and husband David Montgomery. Grandchildren; Tony, Lisa, Emerson, Michelle, Claire, Cresenciano, Naomi, Jenny, Josh, Fabian, Leroy Jr. Shala, Renee, Shawn, Andres, Isaiah, Jessica, Christina, Rachel and Daniel, special brother Jose Romero and sister-in-law Betty Romero. Twenty grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Five generations of hard work, and challenges and above all many blessings. La Sagrada Familia was her life’s example.  She was greatly loved and will be truly missed. Vaya con Dios Mamasita!
