Pete Valdez

Pete Valdez, 53, a resident of Española, passed away peacefully at his home on May 11, 2017 following a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Juan and Emma Valdez; maternal grandparents, Antonio Valerio and Eufelia Fernandez; cousins, Margarita Valdez, Sheila Valdez, Mario Valerio, A.J. Herrera, Carlos Valdez and Eliseo Salazar; uncles, Sleepy, Joe, Sofo and Larry Valdez; aunts, Josie Krauss, and Brenda Valdez. He is survived by his parents, Pedro and Lorraine Valdez; son, Emory Valdez; daughter, Kristian “Kristi” Valdez; sister, Lori Valdez; uncles and aunts, Irene (Jayo) Montoya, Clara (Ernie) Flores, Tony (Mary Lou) Valerio, Maria (Chris) Armijo, Joe Gutierrez, Bernadette (Greg) Cordova, Luis, Mateo Valdez, Eliza (Isidoro) Valdez, Porfy (Fred) Montoya, and many other cousins, relatives and friends. Pete worked for Coca-Cola for 20 years where he enjoyed working with his fellow employees. His hobby was playing at functions with his DJ Archangel Services. He also enjoyed attending NBA games with his children. Pete was a member of El Buen Pastor Church where he attended. At one time he served as president of the Men’s Fellowship group, and helped with a group of young boys named Royal Rangers. Pete was a very talented artist, at a young age he drew a mural in his room at his parent’s home and it is still there. Pete’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Church on Calle Rivera St. in Española. A private burial will be held at a later date. The Family of Pete Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
