Pete Lopez

d. August 18, 2022

Pete M. Lopez, 70, resident of Espanola, passed away on August 18th, 2022. Pete was born October 10, 1951 to Albinta Martinez and Pedro Lopez. He enjoyed attending sundevil basketball games, enjoyed his Denver Broncos, was a dog lover (hence his nickname, "Pete Perro"), he was very intelligent and had a passion for playing his guitar. Pete proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Everyone who had the opportunity to know him enjoyed his company; there was never a dull moment. The day came when the lights turned dark for Pete, when his son Bryan passed away. He was left heartbroken and slowly lost his will to go on.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Albiniita Martinez, Pedro Lopez, his son Bryan Medina, brothers Alcadio Martinez, Jose 0., and Ernest Lopez, his sisters in law, Flora and Irene Lopez and brother in laws, Richard Purser, Larry Clark, and nephew Vincent Martinez.

He is survived by his brother Leroy Lopez (Clorinda), from Chimayo, sisters, Eva Purser from Albuquerque, Amelia Quintana (Librado), from Sombrillo, Irene Lopez (Rhetta) from Rio Rancho, Patsy Clark, from White Rock, sister in law Stella Martinez, from Albuquerque and his long time companion, Debbie Cantrup, from Espanola. Two nieces, who he loved dearly, Yvette and Lisa Marie Martinez from Chimayo, special nephews, Alcadio Jr., and Kelvin Martinez from Albuquerque, Ronnie Lopez, from Pojoaque, Anthony Sena from Rio Rancho, Gary Martinez and Justin Quintana from Chimayo and several other nieces and nephews.

There will be no services for Pete M. Lopez at this time. The family will hold something in private.
