PEARL E. VIGIL, 71, a resident of Espanola, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Dulce (Candie) Valdez; in-laws, Jose E. and Ruth V. Baca; sisters-in-law, Emily Baros and Pauline Maestas and brother-in-law, Frank Baca.
She is survived by her husband, Louie Maestas; sons, Mark Vigil and wife Corina, Perry Vigil and wife Mariadele, and Clyde Vigil, Jr.; daughters, Valerie Maestas and Jennifer and Ramon Naranjo; beloved pet Roxy; grandchildren, Markita Torrez and husband Michael, Matthew Salazar, Mark Vigil, Jr. and fiancé Janel Ortiz, Madalene Rodriguez Mc-Vay, McKenzie Vigil, Jordan Pearl Vigil and fiancé Erik Fisher, Nicholas Vigil, Autumn Vigil and companion Daniel Zelic, Aaron and Rachelle Gallegos, Carlos and Jonathan Hipolito, Dominic and Nicholas Naranjo; great-grandchildren, Kayla DeVargas, Amberly and Marissa Ortiz, Marisol and Melody Torrez, Joshua Salgado, Aurora Rodriguez Mc-Vay, Karlee Vigil, Sara, Zack, Julian, Darren and baby girl Gallegos, and Samantha Hipolito; brothers, Leo and Rosabelle, George and Alexis, Donald and Teresa and Phillip and Janice Valdez; brother-in-law, Rudy Maestas; sisters-in-law, Marie and Frank Valencia, Laura and Eddie Vasquez; God-children, Iona Ortiz, Trina Garcia, Julian Valdez and Jerrod Trujillo and many other relatives and numerous friends.
Pearl retired from the Los Alamos County Fire Department after 25 years of service. Pearl was currently working at McCurdy Charter School for the past 9 years with Student Services, where she loved and cherished each and every one of her students. She was a member of the Holy Family Society de San Miguel in Ranchitos.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Espanola Presbyterian Hospital, Ambercare, the staff and students at McCurdy Charter School and to everyone that called, visited and prayed for her during this difficult time. Special thanks to Johnny DeVargas, Justin Salazar-Torrez and the staff at DeVargas Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10:00 am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, NM, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Apostolic Church of Christ Cemetery in Velarde, NM.
