Patricia “Patty” Wheeler 64, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Cuarteles, New Mexico. Born on February 21, 1962, in Pasadena California. She was raised in Cuarteles with her grandparents Alejandro and Eloisa Esquibel. Patty married her husband Johnny Wheeler and they both had a son Kenneth Wheeler whom she loved very much. She worked for the state of New Mexico for many years. She belonged to St. Vincent de Paul in Santa Cruz Church. She came from a big family, and she loved to hang around with all her siblings, cousins, aunts, nephews and nieces. After working for the State she babysat, she always had a special place in her heart for the babies she took care of. She loved her dogs Skyla, Cocoa and Abby.

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Gloria Herrera, grandparents, Alejandro and Eloisa Esquibel who raised her, brother Michael and Kenneth Herrera, sisters Cathy Correa and Darlene Herrera.  Father in-law Raymond Wheeler Sr. and brother in-law Manuel Rocky Wheeler, Uncle Max Esquibel (Louisa), Ramon Esquibel (Edwina), Candelario (Della), Sam Esquibel and Henry Esquibel. Aunts Donelia Montoya (Daniel), Dora Martinez (Joe), Maria Carman (Tom), Josie Servantes, Tina Trujillo, Gilbert Herrera (Gloria) Joe Herrera (Ascension), Dennis Herrera, Leroy Herrera, Fermin Herrera and Cordelia Herrera and many cousins and family. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory.

She is survived by her husband Johnny Wheeler, son Kenneth Wheeler, sister Vicky Herrera, brother Steven Herrera, mother-in-law, Lydia Wheeler, sister in-law Theresa Herrera (Gilbert), brother’s in-law, Raymond Jr. Wheeler and wife Carol, Anthony Wheeler (Debra), Danny Wheeler (Andrea), Her aunts Velma and Carol Esquibel and Dora Serrano.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2026, Rosary at 10:00am mass will follow at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. Burial will be at a later date.
